Bodega del Desierto is the first winery in the province of La Pampa, a new viticulture region. The vineyard comprises an area of 140 hectares planted in two stages. In the first stage (2001), the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay varieties were planted. In the second stage (2003), the Pinot Noir, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier varieties were planted. Cones are of French origin, except for the Malbec, which comes from the Argentine National Technology Institute (INTA).
