An amazing crescendo of fruity taste is mightily presented from the Flavs Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 2017 to the Flavs Rosso Veneto 2018, full of body and with a spectacular softness on the palate. This wine is superior in both richness and softness.
Beautifully aromatic hints of Cox’s Orange Pippin apple are surrounded by overtones of orange and lemon on the nose. The palate makes this fruity array even more precise and appetizing. All is drawn precisely due to bright citrus freshness – think ripe lemon, tart red apple and tangerine. There is concentration, ripeness and utter freshness and quite a bit of power. The dry finish lets these notions speak all the more clearly. Drink through 2030.
Zest, pear, miso, pepper and fennel seed are all hinted at on the nose and appear inside a lovely, zesty frame on the concentrated palate. Yeasty texture amplifies the savoriness of the herb and miso notes, but lemon zest provides a lovely, full-flavored and refreshing finish.
This small parcel, under two acres, is still planted with low-yielding, century-old vines. Its density and richness are impressive. This is enhanced by the wood aging that adds spice as well as hints of toast to the ripe black fruits. With this concentration, the wine needs time and shouldn’t be drunk before 2020

It is attractively fruited and fragrant on the nose showing blackcurrant, spiced cherry, dried herb and toasted almond characters. The palate is succulent and beautifully weighted, displaying youthful fruit intensity and rounded mouthfeel, elegantly structured by fine, chalky tannins, finishing long and delicately dry. At its best: now to 2020.
This greets you with lifted white flowers, citrus, and stone fruit. Fresh and bright in the mouth, it follows up the nose with suggestions of peach and melon. A nice price for this unassuming but far-from-simple wine. Pair with seafood or a charcuterie board.
Made from 100% hand-picked Insolia and rested five months on the lees in stainless steel after fermentation, this brings beautiful evocations of honeysuckle, orange blossoms, peach, tropical fruit and cantaloupe. With vineyards in the family since 1877, this producer offers a good range of wines, of which this is an excellent example. It is fruity, firm and seriously structured with juicy black fruit and acidity allied to a solid tannic base. Drink this ageworthy wine from 2019.
Here is a great dry white with just 12.5 per cent alcohol, which is rare in the age of climate change. Fine apricots, sleek yet concentrated with a very elegant balance of charm and depth. Really long, filigree finish. Drink or hold.
This fantastic summer sipper has gorgeous floral tones on the nose, with orange blossom standing out. The palate is fresh and mouth-watering with grapefruit citrus, herb and a touch of lifted mint that is very enticing. This is a vegan-friendly wine. (Vintages panel, July 2018)
